Registering to Vote

Registering to vote is very simple. You can pick up a registration application from one of the registration sites listed, complete it and either mail it to the Secretary of State's office or deliver it personally to your local registrar (227 West Jefferson St., Thomasville, GA)OR you can register to vote when you renew your drivers license (Motor Voter program) OR register in person at the local registrars office (227 West Jefferson St., Thomasville, GA).

Felony Convictions

No one can be a registered voter in the state of Georgia while serving a felony sentence. This includes time served in the penal system and probationary time. If you are a registered voter in the state of Georgia, and are convicted of a felony, your name will be removed from the voter list. You may re-register when you have completed your sentence. If you register to vote while serving a felony sentence, you will be subject to punishment by law. It will be your responsibility to re-register when you have completed your sentence.

Voter List Public Information

The names that appear on the voter list are subject to public review just as property records, deeds, and any other public record. Your social security number and your telephone number are kept confidential and are not subject to public review. Your voter registration record is filed and maintained in the office of the Board of Registrars, and no one is allowed to view these records except a registrar or a deputy registrar, unless they are an officer with a court order to view such.
 

Changing Your Address
You can visit the main office at 227 W. Jefferson St. and complete a change of address card in person OR pick up a voter registration application from any of the registration sites listed and complete the application including the change of address section, mail the application to the Secretary of State's office or deliver it personally to this office OR complete the change of address section provided on the back of your current precinct card, and mail it to this office or personally deliver it to this office OR complete a Motor Voter application when you renew your drivers license OR inform us by letter with your signature. WE MUST HAVE YOUR CHANGE OF ADDRESS IN WRITING FROM YOU.
