More Information on Absentee Voting
A voter can cast an absentee ballot in any federal, state, or local election or run-off by submitting a written request to the Thomas County Board of Registrars. After the application is approved, an absentee ballot, along with instructions for voting absentee will be mailed to the voter's home address or temporary out-of-county address. The Board of Registrars will review and approve or reject your application based certain criteria and qualifications. If you send a written request for an absentee ballot BY MAIL, you do not have to provide a reason. However, if you visit the registrars office to vote IN PERSON, you have to provide a reason with the exception of advance voting week. Please visit the links on this page for more information on voting absentee in the state of Georgia or you can call or visit our office.

Advance Voting

Advance voting is offered the Monday through Friday before the next Tuesday’s Election. Advanced or “early” voting is designed to help accommodate those voters with hectic schedules that may not be able to make it to the polls on election day. Advance voting is offered to anyone who is registered to vote and eligible to vote in Thomas County elections. This type of voting is actually absentee voting without having to give a certain reason and is conducted at the registrars’ office on the touch screen voting units only. Paper ballots are not used for advanced voting. A voter has to appear in person at the advance voting site to participate in advanced voting. The voter will be required to complete an application and an oath, and also show an approved PHOTO I.D.
